Budget Podcast
When you don’t have the money to put together a stellar podcast rig, but you still want to get into podcasting, what are you gonna do? You may have to spend a little money.
First, if you don’t have one, get yourself a microphone, like the Labtec Desk Mic along with a standard pair of PC headphones or splurge and get something like the Labtec Stereo Headset.
Then head over here and get the latest build of Audacity for your operating platform. Audacity is free, open source software for recording and editing sounds. It’s available for Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, and Linux. Be sure to download the encoders for MP3 if you are going to be using Audacity to encode your podcast to MP3. With Audacity you can also edit the “umms and ahhs” from your podcast to make it sound better. And best of all Audacity is FREE!
If you’re having “latency” problems while recording your podcast, get the audio levels set to a good level and rip off the headphones and keep on talking.
Good Luck!
