O.C. Podcasters: May

So for the first time since my fourth son was born in January, I ventured out to the Orange County Podcasters Meet-Up. This time it was held at a business called The Buddy Group. First, the place was damned hard to find. It was tucked back in a business park and had no sign on
the building. Plus no friggin’ building in Irvine/El Toro has any kind of number on it. That would make things much too easy for the visitor. Screw you Irvine!! There were twentyish attendees, and here’s a quick list of the shows that they host/produce:

Griddlecakes Radio, RedJazz, Pod2Peer, LifeSpring, MacCast, ReelReviews, GrapeRadio, French Maid TV, Tech News Radio, Jersey Boys Podast, Raw Vegan Radio, History Podcast, Rock and Roll Jew Show, Razing Giants and a few future podcasters.

Probably the most entertaining part of the night was listening to Charlie form the Pod2Peer show telling Adam Christiansen of the MacCast that he would be better off with a Windows PC than a Macintosh. That was awesome, and Adam handled it with a lot of class.

And then there was the Second Life talk. She-it, if I never hear another person talk about Second Life again, that would be okay with me. I downloaded it, tried it and don’t see what the big deal is. Yeah it’s scriptable, yeah you can make yourself anything you want to, but what is the point. I heard Matthew Ebel on his podcast, High Orbit, talk about it and how he’s seen these types of games ruin friends lives. I don’t know about that, but it is a collosal waste of time, at least for me.

See y’all next month.
