Barebones Podcasting

So you have the passion to do a podcast, but you have almost no budget. Today I talked to a listener that was interested in teaching podcasting to a group of 7th graders. Sounds like a worthwile endeavor. I’ve had the same idea with my son’s school. If only I had more time.

The cheapest way to get audio into your computer is through the microphone port on your PC/Mac. This connection will be the noisiest, but they work well for Skype and can be of “good” quality. The noise can be from the 1/8″ connector, or from the unbalanced cable. If you don’t have a mic input on your computer (Mac Mini, etc.) get a Griffin iMic and connect it up. Here’s a link below to a good quality headset with built in microphone that can get you started

Good Luck!
