Behringer Podcast Mixer
Enough with all the free services, let’s get back to the fun stuff, audio hardware. Behringer has a new line of mixers, the Xenyx line. They feature the following features:
- Premium ultra low-noise, high headroom analog mixer
- 2 state-of-the-art XENYX Mic Preamps comparable to standalone boutique preamps
- Neo-classic “British” 3-band EQs for warm and musical sound
- 1 post fader FX send per channel for external FX devices
- 1 stereo aux return for FX applications or as separate stereo input
- Main mix outputs plus separate control room, phones and stereo CD/tape outputs
- CD/tape inputs assignable to main mix or control room/phones outputs
It also has phantom power for all those condenser microphone users out there. Speaking of, one of the main complaints about the Behringer mixer, particularly the UB802, are the microphone preamps. I have no problem with the preamps on my Behringer mixer, but the Xenyx line aims to silence the critics with new preamps and the “British” EQ. I haven’t heard it yet, but this could be a great mixer and has all the features to anchor your podcast rig. If you step up to the 1204 model, it includes a Behringer USB interface, the UCA202. Nice!
Check it out!
