Free Podcast Software
Audacity is probably the most used audio recording software used by podcasters. It’s free, it’s easy to use. But if you want to use VST plug-ins, you’re out of luck. Supposedly VST’s work, but the layout of the plug-ins doesn’t come through. At least for me. When doing research on the Xenyx line of mixers by Behringer I noticed a program called KRISTAL that they mention is Free 16 track audio software. I downloaded and used it to record the Skype voicemail that I used on the latest Fat Guy Radio show. It worked great and has something they call the Kristalizer that works as a compressor and really helped the level of the voicemail. The site that hosts the program, didn’t come up when I clicked on the link, so below is a link to the download from the Behringer page. Windows software.
Get downloading, then get recording!
