recording a podcast with children hardware What an interesting question. I am wondering what “children hardware” is referring to. My son Adam has recorded an episode of his podcast on a cheap Sandisk MP3 player. Actually I bought it for him to listen to The Radio Adventures of Doctor Floyd. The recording is 8Khz, very bad quality, but I transferred it to the Mac and added some podsafe music and there was an episode of his show. The Sandisk was $14.99 on woot.com.
linux podcast studio I personally haven’t had any luck getting audio working well on Linux. Maybe it has something to do with the cheap sound cards that have been in the PC’s that I dedicated to Linux. I know that my Tascam US-122 is supposed to work on Linux, so I guess someday I could try it out. Meanwhile if you do get your sound card working with Linux, Audacity is available on Linux. There is also another multitrack recording program called Ardour. Good luck.
how to build a compressor mic with a old telephone I don’t know what a “compressor mic” is, but a condenser mic is probably what this searcher was trying to find. There are a bunch of DIY sites that will tell you how to build your own microphone. I saw one that was built inside a starkist can.
does the alesis multimix 8 work with podcast station The Alesis Multimix shows up on the computer as another sound source. Set the source of recording for Podcast Station to the MultiMix and you should be golden.
podcast clean up audio / clean up phone audio I use Sound Soap from Bias for my audio clean up. It “learns” the noise that is present in the file and then makes adjustments to clean it up. Audacity also has a noise removal tool that i have used with a fair amount of success in the past. It’s impossible to turn a turd itnto a diamond, so try to get that audio the cleanest you can before you start recording. Tip: Record 10 seconds of background sound before you start talking. Use this clip to train the noise removal tool what to take out.
