Use Soundflower and LineIn to Record Audio

I was trying to answer a question on one of the podcasting forums about playing comments while recording in Garageband. My answer was basically use a mixer. Though after some more research it can be done on the Mac with Soundflower, a free tool from cycling74.com, and LineIn, a free tool from Rogue Amoeba. I’m still not 100% sure about the setup, but this video will help you on your way to understanding. The LineIn software is pretty straight forward, but the Soundflower confuses me with it’s (2ch) and (16ch) options and assigning channels. See if you can figure it out and drop me an e-mail at podcaststudio@gmail.com

Using Soundflower

Shows you how to use Soundflower and LineIn to hook up both system sound, and a microphone as recording sources for iShowU. Note: The microphone part is optional - you don’t have to do it, but it is demonstrated.

Peace,
Russ
