Podcast of the Week: Boagworld
I’ve been trying to get into web development. I’ve modified a few Wordpress themes, tweaked a few CSS files, and my latest project in this realm is creating a web application with Django. Part of keeping myself motivated is listening to this week’s Podcast of the Week, Boagworld.
Boagworld is a podcast for those “Designing, developing and running web sites on a daily basis.” The podcast is hosted by Paul Boag and Marcus Lillington. Both are principals at a UK design firm called Headscape. I do run my own web sites, so I’m in that part of the demographic, and I’m looking to get into the other two areas of the podcast, the design and development, but you don’t have to be any of these to benefit from this podcast. The two run through news that have mostly to do with design, there is a section where they give their opinions on a topic and then an interview. The interviews are often the most interesting parts of the podcast.
Here’s a list of the guests I’ve heard recently:
- Jason Beaird - Beautiful Design
- Cameron Moll - Mobile Web
- Dan Cederholm - Pixels, ems and percentages
- Daniel Burka - About Digg
So as you can see , the guests are some of the most influential and interesting people doing work on the web today. You might think that this is just a commercial disguised as a podcast, but you couldn’t be more wrong. While the two bring information and insights to the podcast based on work done at Headscape, there is no pushing of their company’s services at all.
Check out Boagworld at http://www.boagworld.com/podcast and get educated in web design and development from two experts in the business. The latest show is number 109 and feature guest hosts Jon Hicks and John Oxton from the Rissington Podcast.
Enjoy!
