Podcast of the Week: The Bitterest Pill
So last week, I got to finally get down the the monthly Meetup for the Orange County Podcasters. The speaker at the meeting was Dan Klass of The Bitterest Pill. I’ve had a The Bitterest Pill in a couple of posts, see below, including the Podcast of the Week in September ‘05. Dan stopped by to talk about his recent change to a “premium podcast” model. Listeners are asked to subscribe, not the RSS type subscription, but actually pay each month for the show. In return, Dan will put out 4 shows a month for the premium subscriber. The cost is a modest $4/month, a buck a show, a deal at half the cost. The free version of The Bitterest Pill will still be available, though it will be an abridged version of one of the premium shows. It’s a great model, assuming you can convert enough of the free subscribers to paid subscribers.
Click on the image above. It’s what reminded me to post about this. I was checking out Hulu and picked to watch the full length version of The Girl Next Door. Within the first two minutes of the movie, who pops up, Dan Klass.
Check out the video below to see the lions share of the presentation from the OC Podcasters Meetup. A lot of good information was disseminated. The presentation broke down into a sort of what’s wrong/right with podcasting. Get enough podcasters, meaning guys that like to hear themselves talk (present company included), and you can get off on some long tangents.
Check out this week’s podcast of the week, The Bitterest Pill at http://www.thebitterestpill.com. The latest free episode is the abridged version of Episode #120. The latest premium episode is #124 Aloha, Unicorn-Goat Boy. Free or paid, you’re not going to find a more entertaining podcast around.
